How to Report IP infringement on Twitter

Twitter is a social networking site where people follow each other and tweet daily. At times, the users IP rights are misused. Twitter makes sure to protect such rights. If you want to file a report to notify Twitter of the infringement you need to follow the steps mentioned below: –

  • STEP 1
    Log in to your Twitter account.
  • STEP 2
    As soon as you log in, the homepage of your account will appear.
    Click on the symbol three dots (…) appearing on the sidebar.

  • STEP 3
    As soon as you click on the symbol, an option list appears. Choose “Help Center”.

  • STEP 4
    Once you click on the “Help Center” option, a new page will appear. At the bottom of the page, you will find an option as File a Report. It would be under the heading Contact us. Click on it.

  • STEP 5
    After clicking on File a report, you will see an option list. There select “I want to report an intellectual property issue” as trademarks and copyrights will come under IP issues.
  • STEP 6
    Under this, you will get three options. Select the most suitable option.
  • STEP 7
    • If you select “I want to report a trademark infringement”. Make the following selections.“I have a trademark and someone is infringing my trademark” and then “I am a trademark holder”. As soon as you choose “I am a trademark holder” you will have to decide between the other two options.Fill the above form with all the relevant and correct details.     • If you select “I want to report a Copyright infringement”. Make the following selections.For both the options that are “I am the copyright owner” and “I am an authorized representative of the copyright owner” the copyright forms remain the same.Fill the above form with all the relevant and correct details. Once the form is complete click on the Submit button provided at the bottom of the page.For filing a Copyright complaint, you can also refer to this link.

  • ConclusionOnce twitter will receive your complaint about the Infringement of your product or service, twitter will respond to you with an email. If you did not receive an email that means your complaint has not been registered and you need to fill the complaint form again. However, submitting duplicate complaints will result in a delay in processing. Make sure no false claims have been made as it’s a legal process and can result in legal obligations.
